Wednesday 6:30p

We just spoke to the neurosurgeon, Dr. Handler. He said everything went fine. It is a big tumor with the consistency of a meatball. It has wrapped around the brain stem and has twisted it. From his observation, he thinks it is a jpa tumor and should respond to prolonged low dose chemo treatments. The Pediatric Surgeon is putting in the mediport now and he should be done with in an hour or so. We all have taken a deep breath and thanked God for getting us to this point. God Bless you all.

Gwen and Steve,

Our thoughts were with you all day yesterday, and will continue to be as you wait for the results to come back.

I hope that things continue to go as expected (or better) and that Alex bounces back quickly from yesterday's ordeal.

Give each other lots of hugs. It seems to help on this end.

Gwen and Steve,

I also found your blog by random chance. I just wanted to let you know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family. I was glad to hear that the surgery went well. Please do not hesitate to call if you need anything. I would love to help out in any way that I can. I would be more than happy to watch Zoe as I am home during the day. Continue to be strong.

We are so happy things went well with surgery! Samantha and Aidan were very concerned about Alex yesterday and I tried to explain what was happening for him to them. They expressed wanting to make a special project to lift his spirits! I would like to know if at any point they will allow visitors or just family. If there is anything like pictures of friends or an activity that would help take his mind off of things for even a moment we'd be happy to deliver anything that comes to mind!
Love and Hugs,
Tina & Gregg, Samantha and Aidan

Gwendolyn, Steve, Alex, and Zoe,

My heart was so heavy all day yesterday thinking of what was happening at the hospital, and i'm so relieved to hear that the surgery went well. Thank you so much for having me over at lakeside. It was so wonderful to watch Alex enjoying time being with his friends. I know that recovery will be a long road for your family, phisically and mentally, and I will continue to send positive thoughts, strength, and love your way.

Me ke aloha pumehana E malama pono nui loa Aloha a hui hou...
(with warmth and love, may you take care, until we meet again)
